being seen & heard

seen & heard

We all have a human need to be seen and heard.

There are two ways to accomplish this. One is to break down the walls to being seen. If you don’t feel seen and heard look at your ability to be open. What do you want others to see? What are you hiding? Is there something in the way of you being transparent? And, how do you see and feel about yourself?

I work with many clients who feel invisible and not important. I begin by helping them realize their own importance and value. When they begin to believe in themselves and that their voice deserves to be heard, they automatically start to allow others to hear them.

The second way to be seen and heard is to evaluate the old stories from your past that keep you from being seen and heard for who you are today. Are you living stories that no longer serve you? The past is gone. Present time is your friend. Begin writing new chapters to your life story.

On the flip side of feeling seen and heard, is learning how to show others you hear them and value who they are. For example, when listening, many times we do so with our own agenda and preconceived ideas. What if we listened with a blank canvas as if we were hearing the person and words for the very first time? Listen with compassion and show genuine interest in what they are saying.

Here are some tips to listening so people feel heard and seen:

  • Acknowledge that you heard what they are saying.

  • Make them feel important.

  • Use clarifying questions so they know you are actively listening.

  • Listen with curiosity and wonder. No evaluations.

  • Usually it is less about solving their problem and more about being heard.

When we begin break down our own walls and practice active listening, we will all benefit. Start by looking inside yourself.

Try being more transparent and start listening with compassion.

Many People struggle with feeling a lack of control and have anxiety over the things they cannot control. When you draw a line between the truth of what is controllable in life and what isn’t, you instantly have a feeling of relief. Can you really control another person’s actions? Can you control the weather, can you control what the leaders of your county are doing? Not really, you can influence but not control any of those things. Read full article here >>

resilience

Resilience

I’m sure we’ve all heard the sage words of encouragement, “You are stronger than you think you are”. But when you are in the middle of a storm, it can be challenging to find your way out. Life was designed to challenge us. How else do we learn who we are and of what we are made?

I have had many opportunities to be resilient and have seen many people weather the storms of life. Through my life experiences and the lives of my friends and clients, I have learned how to understand the ability to be resilient. To know that there are answers to a problem that can’t be seen when we are struggling.

Here are few my favorite hints that have helped pull me through difficult times.

Ask For Help:
Ask your friends, family or a higher source, whatever that might mean to you. Let go of trying to figure it out yourself and ask for guidance. It could be from your own soul, angels, god, universe.

Stay Grounded:
Do whatever you need to in order to feel safe, connected and grounded. Go for a walk, take a bath, read a book, help someone else in need, write a list of what your strengths are and what you are grateful for. These are all things that will bring you back home to you. You are the only one that can get yourself back up! Muster the strength needed to keep going and Do Not Give Up.

Trust Yourself:
Your courage, strength and resilience come from within. Connect to your heart, spirit or soul and believe you will find an answer to any problem. You can only do your best and control what you can and let the rest go. You cannot control other people.

I recently heard my friend Kirsten Fox speak on this subject and took away some golden nuggets I want to share with you:

  • Allow ‘good enough’ to be your goal for the stressful time.

  • Ask for guidance.

  • Connect to YOU.

  • Use humor.

  • Find a silver lining. If you can’t make one up.

  • Attitude is everything.

  • Control what you can and let the rest go.

You can do it! I believe in you! — Terry

declutter

declutter

“What I know for sure is that when you declutter,
whether it’s in your home, your head, or your heart,
it’s astounding what will flow into that space and
enrich you, your life, and your family.”

— Peter Waisil

Have you ever felt so scattered and unfocused that you didn’t know what to do next? Or didn’t know what your heart was feeling or telling you? When things are cluttered, whether in your material world or your inner world, everything can feel out of order and hazy. You can’t find the words, the important paper or your favorite blouse you bought weeks ago. When this happens, I know I have not been paying attention and not taking care of things.

Being decluttered takes constant vigilance. You must continually put everything in its place and get rid of what you do not need. Things have energy that will drain you. Have you ever spent a day purging what is no longer needed and afterwords you feel a lightness and clarity again?

The same thing happens in your heart, mind and emotions. How many old beliefs, stories and attitudes are you holding on to that no longer serve you and are draining your happiness, joy and creative energy? Thoughts, like things, have energy attached to them that will bring your vibration up or down or completely stagnate you. You know what I mean, don’t you?

Pay attention to what you say and what you believe. Is it serving you or is it an old habit weighing you down? Take inventory of old stories that keep you from creating new ones in present time. Get rid of old clothes, papers, clutter. You will be amazed at the sense of getting rid of the past that opens up many more possibilities for the present and future. You will feel free and your energy level with be boundless.

What are you waiting for? Take inventory today and declutter your life.

Steps to take:

1.  Sit down and journal beliefs or old stories you tell that do not serve you any longer. Replace them with beliefs that do serve you now.

2.  Clean out one drawer or closet or space every week until everything is current and decluttered.

3.  Be mindful of what you chose to think or add to your material space. Ask yourself “Does this bring me joy of any kind? Does it add to or take away from my happiness?”

4.  Notice how this opens up energy for clarity and a more positive outlook.

interview :: moms living the dream life

My friend Sophia Makris is interviewing mompreneurs living the dream life. This interview series is your chance to get to know 21 moms as they share their journey on how they created their dream life while still raising a happy family and building their dream business. Register to listen to the series including Terry's interview with Sophia.

I want you to meet my friend Sophia Makris who is a certified success coach and happily married mother of three!

Sophia was always non-stop, following her heart, making instant decisions towards her destiny and always saying YES to her DREAMS.

It all changed when she became a mom. She began to play it safe and say no to her dreams by putting everyone else first which only led to depression. Sound familiar?

It was when she came across her mentor and success coach that she found her true identity again and stopped playing the negative story in her head that told her, "you are a mom now and you should focus on only that, not your dreams."

While Sophia's children where 7, 5 and 6 months old she said YES to her desires by going for her Success Coach certification. She had to figure out how to create the family and life vision she always wanted. Sophia cracked the code and figured out how to manage her family and her business while still taking care of herself.

That's why she decided to interview 21 Mompreneurs who are already raising a happy family, building their dream business and living their DREAM life (including me!!).

This masterclass is called Moms Living the Dream Life: How to raise a Happy Family while Building the Business of your Dreams!

Because you're a valued member of my community, I have a complimentary ticket for you to watch these amazing interviews from the comfort of your home. It's really easy to tune in, simply register here to get access:

This is for moms that have that burning desire to create more in their life. The moms that believe they have so much to give, but don’t know where to start.

Here’s what you'll get out of this interview series:

  • How to plan your day based on yours and your family needs
  • How to maintain a great relationship with your husband
  • What is the mindset needed and how to take that next step towards your dream life
  • The importance of self-care
  • How to spend quality time with your children so they don’t feel neglected and how to not feel guilty for not being with them 24/7
  • How to inspire your children and build a healthy relationship with them
  • How to outsource responsibilities so you can create more space for your family and life vision
  • How to fill your home with more love, support and empowerment

And so much more….

Knowing how busy you are as a mom, these interviews are short and to the point.

I am so excited that I have a complimentary ticket for you to attend from your home, your office/work or on the road
